Philip Edward's Page. Philip Edwards was at Minchenden from 1949 -1956 in the Spanish stream. He graduated in Chemistry in 1961
Philip doesn't remember who organised this and which other schools took part but it must have been in the summer term of 1953. The pictures were taken at the dress rehearsal in Minchenden since the grounds were big enough. The public performance probably took place in Broomfield Park. The pavanne and galliard to which we danced were taken from the Capriole Suite by Peter Warlock.

Scafell Pike 1962
Philip Edwards says:
"The trip to SFP was a trial run for an attemp on t the Three Peaks ( Ben Nevis, Snowden and SFP) from London over a weekend which we did later in April. On the earlier trip we only went to SFP which we climbed from Langdale but when we got to Snowdon it was raining and cloudy so we packed up and left. When we did the real thing we were very lucky with the weather and did not see a cloud all weekend. Unfortunately all the pictures were pooled and retained by somebody else. The trips were organised by the Rovers of the Christchuch Southgate Scout group which was strongly represented in Minchenden"
